Tour Aotearoa

The TA (Tour Aotearoa) is a bicycle trail running the length of New Zealand but with kinks in it. The result: 3000 kilometres of trail that is in your backyard. Many Kiwis see some of it, dabble with bits of it. Few go the whole hog.

About this book.

This book is a tale about Duncan Coutts’ alter ego, Hal Barnyard, cycling the Tour Aotearoa.

Hal Barnyard is to Coutts what Peter Parker is to Spiderman or Bruce Wayne is to Batman. Oscar Wilde: ‘Give a man a mask and he will tell the truth.’

The TA is a tough trip to make on your own and it’s good to have a buddy. Hal took Homer along for the ride. Coutts was in the background and they couldn’t have done it without each other.

The nature of the TA – different strokes for different folks - means that one will have numerous interactions with other entrants. Luigi is one of those and features as a larger than life character in the book; he became a ‘multi-buddier’.

Take inspiration from this book and don’t overthink your next escapade. Just begin …

As Jonathan Kennett said: ‘If Hal can do it, anyone can’.
